Round 1: Both were great. David C. sang well, but I expected something more. I wanted him to just start off good and end up great, but he started good and ended good. I didn't think David A. started off well (the part when he sang "seem to black and white" was atrocious), but he recovered and did the middle and ending extremely well. I don't think his vocals went extremely great with this song (like Clay's), but he everything else was flawless.
Verdict: David A. for round 1
Round 2: Why David C. why!? Why did you use the worst arrangements for the suppose-to-be winning song! In case you haven't noticed, none of the past winner's songs had an up-tempo like the one you sang. You did sing it well, but if you sang it like how you sang "Billie Jean" or "Baba O'reiily" (slow at first and then end powerfully) you would have gotten better reviews and have a better shot of taking the title. Look at Archuleta. His arrangement allowed him to show off his vocals. He received better reviews. I wasn't crazy about the ending, but the performance overall was great.
Verdict: David A. again for this round
Round 3: What happened David Cook! You didn't choose the right song! You sang this song that didn't show your great vocals. You sang it well, no doubt, but you should have chosen a song you sang already. (I am just now hearing Cowell say that Cook should ahve song Billie Jean or Hello. Great minds think alike! lol). Your point was valid about singing something new, but there isn't that little thing where people go "I loved that song when he sang it originally. I love it again. I'm gonna vote for him." Archuleta sang Imagine. the moment he said that he was going to sing it again people cheered. Because that was a performance everyone remembered and to hear it again would be awesome. Ok Archuleta, you are very good at choosing songs. You chose the right song and ended the competition with a great note.
Verdict: David A. once again
Ultimate Verdict: THis song was a culmination of learning to be a great artist. The first song was about creating the arrangement of a song given to the contestants. THe second song was about singing a song America has never heard before and making America love it. THe last song was about the ability to choose the right song. I'm sorry Cook, you did well in this competition and I really wanted you to win, but Archeleta exceeded beyond high expectations.
Ultimate Ultimate Verdict: Acutally thinking this over, I think the Davids might be evenly matched. David Cook sang great in the weeks before but did not do great tonight. David Archuleta had good performances in the past weeks but they weren't as great as Cook's. He did sing the best tonight. I don't know who will win or how America will choose. Will America choose the one who did the bestoverall or the won who sang the best tonight? Either way I'm supporting both Davids.
Btw, I didn't see the beginning of the episode. Who the hell was the guy talking about boxing? He seriously annoyed the crap out of me.
